Morning Economic Report 4-28-25

It is unclear whether US-China trade talks are ongoing. Trump claims progress, China refutes these claims. US GDP and job data will be in focus this week. The Bank of Japan will also decide on the cost of the borrowing. Expectations are for unchanged rates of 0.5%. The ECB is to lower interest rates once again in June, but the Fed might just stay put, especially if Friday’s job data is auspicious. Global equities are advancing, and so is the dollar, whilst profit-taking is pushing gold prices lower.
